Club History Project
Currently the Club is currently undertaking a project to research and document its rich history.
Over the years the club has seen many famous sailors pass through its ranks as juniors stepped up to 12s, often moving on to sailing 18s and other classes at other clubs. Geoff Lloyd, Bob Cuneo, Dave Porter, Michael Chapman, Michael Coxon and Craig Ramsden are just a few of the Lane Cove sailors who have won major 12ft skiff championships. World women's single-handed champion Lyndal Coxon, 2004 Olympian Karen Gojnich and current Australian Female Sailor of the Year Adrienne Cahalan are also former or current Lane Cove sailors.
Along with the famous, not so famous and infamous names go a great bunch of stories of epic races, breathtaking boat handling and high spirited social events. The Club's history project will be trying to capture these stories and document them.
Current and former Club members are invited to contribute facts, stories and anecdotes to help piece together the history.
If you have photographs, old programs, press clippings, information from trophies or other materials these could all help the effort.
Anyone who can assist should contact Carolyn Biggs on (02) 9428 3794 or Rolf Lunsmann on (02) 9418 6094, or send an e-mail to history@lc12ftssc.org.au.
